Since 1985 Toshio Iezumi has received a number of prizes and exhibited in dozens of museums, galleries, biennials and art fairs in Japan and worldwide. His glass abstract sculptures are included in several major public collections, such as those of the New York Museum of Art and Design, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art.
In the ‘Move’ series, which began in the 2000’s, the artist presents vertical sculptures standing with a powerful and delicate presence. For the series, Toshio Iezumi worked especially on the waves, alternating convex and concave forms to give the sculptures an effect of movement. The artist also uses a semi-transparent mirror, placed inside the artwork to further accentuate the reflections and light diffusion.

His abstract artworks change appearance depending on where they are placed and the position of the viewer. Depending on whether they reflect light or let it filter through, his sculptures give off inexhaustible visual effects.
