About the Item
This beautiful mahogany pedestal is a wonderful example of the neoclassical style. It has detailed carvings of draped tapestries that are set in frames along the edges at the top of the piece. Further down are small flowers that decorate the top corners of the body of the pedestal. This piece has a deep red tone to the wood that emphasizes the decorations carved into it. At the top of the pedestal, there is a section of wood that can be removed to reveal a secret space for storage in the piece. The pedestal tapers in size from the top the bottom, with the smaller size being the base. It can be used for displaying item such as plants, sculptures, or vases. This piece was made in America and has wear consistent with its age.
