About the Item
A great opportunity to own a painting by Vasa Mihich. These works are future forward as they are based on computer-generated programs with a focus on aesthetics. Meaning Vasa wanted to meld pleasing and interesting color, light and form and yet work within a framework that speaks to our time period and tools. There are also numeric and mathematical challenges that he both plays with and experiments with in these works with sequences and patterns.
This particular work is pleasing as the broader bans of color work well together with the wonderful lavenders, creams and turquoises - colors of today. The work has a surprising texture to it in that he may have taped off areas and applied acrylic as there are ridges to every edge so if you run your finger across the surface you feel raised and lowered edges to the forms he uses.
There is also an optical play which is very pleasing to the eye, a pulsating feel of liveliness to the work which is both delicate, upbeat, playful and technological in feel.
This work can hang on the wall without a frame.
A very fresh and inviting work that will wear well into the future.

Vasa Velizar Mihich
Academically trained as a painter, Vasa Mihich originally taught theories of color as a senior Professor of Design at the University of California, Los Angeles. The octogenarian artist has been creating his striking transparent acrylic forms since the late 1960’s in his Los Angeles studio and continues to this day to be a forward-thinking innovator.
