About the artist:
Yang Dongying is known for his “Super-flat” sculpture. Through a variety of modern abstract sculpture- often executed in metal, the artist deconstructs the concept of traditional Chinese landscape, realizing an aesthetic dialogue between today and the past.
By overlapping sheet metals, clean and simple lines strewn at random that create a rich layering space, the artworks conjure up the image of traditional cultural symbols such as Taihu Stone, propitious cloud, etc;. The texture and color of the metal itself highlight the beauty of power and simplicity of the material, opening up more possibilities for modern artistic expression of “mountain and sea”.
Yang was born In 1980 in Inner Mongolia, China. He studied art and design with the famous Chinese Contemporary artist Bu Di. His artworks have been collected by Guan Shan Yue Art Museum,Chinese Sculpture Museum, GuanFu Museum.
