  • Nocturnal Parts - abstract geometric contemporary modern painting relief
    Located in Doetinchem, NL
Nocturnal Parts is a unique one-of-a-kind contemporary modern painting relief by Dutch artist Sander Martijn Jonker. It is a relief consisting of two open spherical parts with an intriguing matte black finish, perhaps a bit mysterious but very beautifully made. It can be hanged in two different ways, with the opening between the two spherical elements either facing away or facing the observer. Depending where the light comes from one might decide for the one or the other hanging method. Sander Martijn Jonker (1977, Netherlands) graduated from the St. Joost School of Art & Design in Den Bosch, The Netherlands. He primarily makes three-dimensional reliefs that play with the tension between abstraction and representation, surface and space. Light, shadow and their elusive ever-changing properties play an important role. Although the resulting works are abstract, he uses everyday reality as a starting and/or reference point. His work is created through forms of manipulation, distortion, repetition and simplification. Some works arise from the repetition of a simple movement or form, others are made by exploring how far he can go with the deformation and manipulation of the material, after which he captures and preserves the shape. He experiences daily life as uncontrollable and at times confusing. In order to cope with that, he is always looking for patterns and has gradually developed various rituals and ways of control, hoping they can offer him certainty and reassurance. His work and person are inextricably connected. He makes the things he makes because he doesn’t have a choice. He is trying to get a grip...

    By Jack Graves III
    Located in Saint Augustine, FL
Artist: Jack Graves III (American, 1988-) Title: "Venus de Milo Sculpture (Alexandros of Antioch)" Series: Sculpture *Signed, titled, and dated by Graves on bottom Year: 2022 Medium: Original Acrylic Painted Cast Marble Sculpture Dimensions: 15.75" tall x 4.38" wide x 4.38" deep Weight: 5.4 pounds Condition: In mint condition Notes: This is a unique work, not from an edition. The raw white cast marble sculpture itself was not created by the artist; it is a found object which Graves has hand-painted and transformed with his own design. The sculpture is cast marble: over 90% natural crushed Greek Marble stone with a small amount of resin poured into a mold, made in Heraklion, Greece. The Venus de Milo is an ancient Greek sculpture that was created during the Hellenistic period, sometime between 150 and 125 BC. It is one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture, having been prominently displayed at the Louvre Museum since shortly after the statue was rediscovered on the island of Milos...
