About the Item

Pablo Picasso is regarded as one of the central figures of 20th-century art. While his work spans a wide range of movements - from Expressionism and Neoclassicism to Surrealism. He is best known as the founder of Cubism. The vase Sujet Colombe (Dove Subject), created in 1959, is made of white earthenware, decorated with blue and black engobe and engraved with a knife on enamel. In this refined piece, the dove seems to come alive. The white surface, finished with a glossy glaze, enhances the play of light and emphasizes the relief details. The hand-applied blue ornaments lend the work both lightness and elegance — qualities so characteristic of Picasso’s artistic language. This edition was produced in 500 examples, each stamped on the underside with “MADOURA PLEIN FEU” and “EDITION PICASSO.” You are invited to acquire one of these rare pieces and capture the flight of Picasso’s dove in your collection.
