About the Item
Alberto Piccini is an Italian artist from Seravezza in Tuscany. His work primarily comprises of bronze and marble sculptures, which have simultaneously an appeal of bold modernity and timeless, classic lyricism. He has lived in various places throughout Italy, spending most of his time between Milan, Pietrasanta and Carrera. He studied sculpture at the Accademia d’Arte in Florence and has held solo and collective exhibitions throughout Europe and also in the United States and East Asia. Piccini casts his sculptures in his own foundry in Pietrasanta, and maintains constant contact with them throughout the process of creation. He consecrates all of his time and attention to them, nurtures them, and consequently, the result of this process is an ineffable impression of intimacy. His works have fullness and a tactile quality to them, thus embodying to a very high degree the true physicality of this medium, which works in conjunction with the ever-present push and pull that art has with physical reality. His sculptures are classically expressive, and therefore very versatile in the field of contemporary art, seeing as they are amenable enough to be commercially desirable, but also have the undeniable marks of artistry and technical mastery, which makes them true works of art.
