About the Item

Pagan Christian, 2006-2007 Concrete, glass 26 H × 15 7/10 W × 19 7/10 D in. 66 H × 40 W × 50 D cm Unique The idea of fragment emerged in the concrete sculpture format offers a clear view of the post-modern condition. The employment of mixed materials, apparently difficult to associate, such as concrete and colored glass beads, recall the images from the ancient Roman fragments of sculpture and mosaics. The sculpture was part of a series of works dedicated to the reinterpretation of the fragments of the antic Roman sculpture of Constantine the Great.

By Zsolt Berszán
Located in Baden-Baden, DE
Untitled 06, 2016 Mixed media on metal sheet (Signed on reverse) 31 1/2 H × 70 9/10 W × 39 2/5 D in 80 H × 180 W × 100 D cm Zsolt Berszán’s work speaks of repulsion and fascination and at the same time speaks about shapes that lie on the border between hallucination and obsession wherein the identity and order were disrupted. Themes such as the double and the metamorphosis, otherwise put, themes of atrophied characters are all representations of the abject. Berszán’s creation is located at the fine border between the representation of identity and its dissolution thusly aiming to represent the non-symbolized. As an artist and writer, Philip Pavia was a committed member of the Abstract Art community throughout his long, distinguished career. Pavia was active in the art world until his death in 2005 and received immense critical praise for his artistic and literary contributions. Recognized for his signature work The Ides of March...
