About the Item
The draw of clay for Anastassia is in its innate ability to connect us to our unconscious and past experiences of touch. Her work, led by intuition and a sense of play, explores the multifaceted experience of being human; with all its melancholy, discomfort and humour. She explores themes that are both highly personal and also touch upon our shared collective experiences. Anastassia makes in an intuitive way, aiming to allow the piece to emerge without preconceived ideas of its’ meaning. Her sculptures are characterised by tenderness and intimacy that arises from her deep connection with the material and with her own subconscious.
