About the Item

The tactile and nature-infused Freedom series extends into the world with densely cut paper compositions. They embody the flow of self-knowledge, and explore the feminine, harmony and groundeness as crucial elements of our humanity. Angelica’s multi-layered works are informed by her ongoing efforts to create a less reactive and more responsive presence in the world. They act as the muse to meditations on the many facets of surrender, empowerment, reverence, and love that exist in ourselves, and in our relation to a greater whole. Angelica Bergamini was born in Viareggio (Italy) in 1973. She holds a degree from the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence (Italy) and she has spent long periods of residency in Spain at the University of Granada and at the Museo National Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid. Bergamini explores the meaning of colors in an open dialogue with human emotions and natural shapes, while her experimental approach manifests through different medias: from painting and paper-cuts assemblages to video and sculptural installations. Her works have been presented internationally as part of collective shows in New York (Tanja Grunert; White Box; BRIC Arts Media; Photo New York), London (Chelsea space), Paris (Galerie Arnaud Lefebvre), Stockholm (Färgfabriken) and in Hong Kong (Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery), besides being part of several private collections worldwide. Bergamini’s most recent shows include her participation to the “Il volo e`una scrittura del corpo nel cielo” - altered book project: 9 artists for a novel by C.Gagliardo, published by Hacca Edizioni, a project curated by Pietro Gagliano`, first launched at Salone Internazionale del Libro in Turin 2015 (Italy) and at Writers Literary Festival 2016 in Milan. She is currently working on a new video series based on the animation of a selection of her previous works on paper.

Medium Abstract Sculpture: 'Accepting'
By Eileen Braun
Located in New York, NY
During the COVID-19 lockdown, many faced swirling negative thoughts….. Atlanta sculptor, Eileen Braun, worked through the lockdown challenge and re-channeled that negative energy into her hands. As her hands cradled and examined the materials, her mind welcomed being in the moment and being grateful for what was. Those positive thoughts became her mantra while creating. Accepting change without judgement. On occasion, accepting the days that didn’t change, while the materials spoke anew. She explains that “the resulting forms display my interwoven emotions: quiet, complex, absorbed, relaxed, serious, playful, flirtatious, mothering, smothering and ultimately, joyful.” Her installation, OPEN SPACES: Espaces Ouverts, is a profusion of forms suspended in our two front facing plaza windows. As they float, sight lines...
