About the Item

Edition of 100 copies numbered and signed by the artist. Excellent conditions. Aurelio Mistruzzi was an Italian sculptor and medalist. He attended the Udine School of Art with professor sculptor De Paoli. He then enrolled in the Venice Academy and shortly after moved to Milan to follow evening classes at the Brera Academy. In 1908 he attended the school of Medal Engraving in Rome. In 1914 he was assigned the important commission for the sculpted decorations of the Town Hall building in Udine, which he carried out together with Raimondo D'Aronco, with monumental sculptural groups dedicated to civil and political virtues (The victory of labour; Labour; Unity and strength; Venice and The Third Italy; Empire and Patriarchy). He also undertook private commissions, in particular in the field of funerary statuary. In the early 1920’s he also worked profusely in the field of medal and coin engraving. He signed Pope Pius 11th’s coins and part of those issued by Pope Pius 12th. Remarkable also his production in civil and secular work, amongst which we mention the beautiful Fountain of Frogs in Monza. One of his last works is the Monument to General Trujillo in Santo Domingo. He died in Rome in 1960.

Bonded bronze sculpture with a golden patina. Mounted on a Guatemala green marble base. Guatemala green marble, as its name suggests, is a marble coming from India, also known ad India Green; it is characterized by an intense green color with white veins with an irregular and uneven shape. Dimensions: cm 10 x 10 x 2 (base); cm 29 (height of sculpture). Excellent conditions. This artwork - born on a project realized by the artist in the 1930's and manufactured posthumous - represents a sensual nude woman who symbolizes the hospitality. Delightful creation by the great Italian painter Orfeo Tamburi. He firstly embraced the principles of the Roman School, from which he matured an evocative language with warm chromatic intonations that found favorite themes in portraits and urban views.
