Carole Feuerman's "Brooke with Beach Ball' is a meticulously detailed, hyper-realistic sculpture in cast resin and oil paint. The incredibly life-like sculpture is finished with hand applied "water drop" details, making it appear like the child depicted has just finished her peaceful swim! This wall-mounted work is Unique Variant #2 in a series of 8. Carole A. Feuerman is internationally acknowledged as one of the world’s most prominent hyper-realist sculptors, and her prolific career spans four decades. Working in resin, marble, and bronze, Feuerman sculpts life-size, monumental and miniature works that encompass a trompe-l’oeil technique. Feuerman is currently being featured in a solo exhibition in Giardino Della Marinaressa in conjunction with the 57th Venice Biennale. She has had six museum retrospectives to date, and among the notable honors she has received are the Amelia Peabody Award, the Lorenzo de Medici Prize, and first prizes at the Austrian Biennale, the Florence Biennale, the 2008 Beijing Biennale, and the Beijing Olympics Fine Arts Exhibition. Her work is in the selected collections of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and the Forbes Magazine Collection. Selected public collections include Grounds for Sculpture, the El Paso Museum of Art, the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Bass Museum, Sprithistoriska Museet, and Art-st-Urban. She has taught, lectured, and given workshops at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon Guggenheim Museum, and Columbia University. Dubbed ‘the reigning doyenne of superrealism’ by art historian John T. Spike, Feuerman has solidified her place in art history.
