About the Item
My Jupiter Series is part of a new series of pieces started while quarantining in this pandemic time. They are hand cast solid bronze relief sculptures mounted on black granite bases. The romantic art nouveau figures were originally sculpted in clay. A mold was made of it and a wax replica was created. At the bronze foundry the wax was dipped repeatedly in a ceramic slurry to form a shell around it. Once dry and heated the shell was strong enough to withstand the heat of the liquid bronze that was poured into it. This is called 'the lost wax process.' Once the sculpture cooled it was then sandblasted and 'chased' (the ceramic mold broken off and the bronze smoothed.) It came to fruition with colorful patinas and a coat of wax. These bronze sculpture will last and be enjoyed many lifetimes.
