About the Item
“Reflections” – A Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture of Depth and Power
“Reflections” is a contemporary sculpture featuring a gorilla’s head in ceramic, mounted on a polished metal base that subtly evokes the shimmering surface of water. This piece embodies both the raw strength and introspective depth of the gorilla, a symbolic bridge between humanity and the natural world.
The expressive gaze of the gorilla appears to pierce through the water’s surface, inviting us to look beyond appearances, to explore the depths of our own humanity and our connection to nature. The richly textured ceramic, with its meticulously glazed surface, contrasts beautifully with the sleek sobriety of the metal base, creating an elegant and harmonious composition.
The polished base, with its fluid, reflective quality, not only mirrors the sculpture but also embodies the idea of a world in motion, a metaphor for the emotions this piece evokes. Entirely handcrafted, this one-of-a-kind work is a stunning example of contemporary design, seamlessly blending figurative art and deep symbolism.
In pristine condition, this sculpture is perfect for art and design collectors seeking a piece that combines visual strength, profound symbolism, and exceptional craftsmanship. A statement artwork that will enrich any modern or classic space, offering a commanding presence and a poetic reflection on existence.

Ceramic Gold-Plating Sculpture-Series Animal Zodiac- Dragon
Located in Beijing, CN
The sculpture is signed and numbered. Edition 20/99.
About the Artwork:
The Chinese Zodiac can’t be ignored in the traditional culture of China.
It’s closely interconnected with the social customs and habits, the aesthetic taste and the opinion of value. The Twelve animals of Year represent the traditional Chinese wisdom that the laws of Nature governs all things and that man must seek harmony with Nature. I created this Series of twelve zodiac animals made of gold and pottery, trying to give the “zodiac”-this long-standing cultural symbols a meaning of the prosperity and the luckiness. –He Wenjue
