About the Item
Exotic fish with shell is a unique bronze sculpture, sand and tobacco patina, by contemporary artist Chésade, dimensions are 54 × 60 × 15 cm (21.3 × 23.6 × 5.9 in).
The sculpture is signed and comes with a metal stand and a certificate of authenticity.
The sculptures by the French artist, whose work frequently features the marine environment, are singular in nature.
The sculpture by Chésade is a part of this new "expressionist" movement. Despite the striking realism of these works of art, they are more motivated by a strong desire to convey the artist's or the animal's own subjective feelings than by a desire to trick the viewer's eyes. These almost naturalistic pieces of art display a clear aesthetic attention: the bronze is polished with vibrant, priceless or understated patinas.

Chésade
French sculptor Chésade mainly draws her inspiration from the animal and marine worlds. Her masterful bronze sculptures are deftly created, with the material enriched by fine detailing and enhanced with a luminous patina. The artist’s works therefore become “tactile landscapes” imbued with her poetic vision and able to convey the animals’ energy and essence. The sculptor has won two medals at the Paris National Maritime Museum Biennial (2009 and 2013) and a gold medal at the French National Animal Artists’ Fair in 2009. In 2012, her body of animal work was honoured when she was awarded the prestigious Sandoz prize. “For me, sculpting is like “touching life”. It’s not a question of locking life away in an ever- imperfect naturalist imitation, but of having a poetic vision.”

Judocus Fish Bronze Sculpture Realism Belgian In Stock
Pieter Vanden Daele was born in Belgium in 1971. He grew up between lakes and the river Scheldt. The river De Scheldt and the variety of lakes are an ideal environment for fishermen. When his friends went fishing, Pieter took painting lessons at the Oudenaarde academy. At a young age Pieter became fascinated by the underwater world and fauna. In 2000 he worked at an art foundation in Oudenaarde, where he learned how to make molds and how to cast and patronize bronze. His passions came together in 2003 and he started casting bronze sculptures of mainly carp.
The fish that he makes have a special texture, a skin with scales translated into bronze. VandenDaele has developed its own technology for this. Pieter builds the original model from organic material, such as leaves, wood, leather, wax and many other materials. He uses various organic materials in his molds to create special prints and structures in the skin of the bronze. This gives the sculptures so much character that names such as Ferox, Alphons and Ludwig do not surprise us.
The fish are alive, caught for eternity. Just as nature keeps prehistoric fish...
