About the Item

Cyrille André's most recent sculpture is in white bronze, an alloy similar to silicone bronze, but silvery in appearance. It is a set of 5 figures in various positions. "Politique de l'Autruche" or "Ostrich Politics" is number 1 in an edition of 8. Each figure is signed and numbered. The height of each of the 5 figures is: 14,5", 12.5", 11.25", 6.5", 5.75". This set has 3 figures with a black patina for contrast, but it is also possible to purchase a set with all black patina or all the figures in the white bronze natural finish. Please inquire if interested in a single figure or in a smaller set of 2 or 3. Please allow time for casting a new set, if ordering other options. Cyrille André was born in Lyons, France, and received his DNSEP (Diplome National Supérieur d'Expression Plastique) from the Ecole d’Art de Grenoble in 1997. André began studying painting and drawing, but soon discovered his desire to sculpt - to be physically involved with the materials. After graduating, he taught art for ten years while developing his sculpture practice. In 2007, brisk sales both nationally and internationally allowed him to devote himself to art-making full time. André’s work is now in many European and American collections, both private and public. Although his early work was executed in roughly carved wood, André is best known for his large-scale figures in slick black or white polyester resin with blank facial expression that tower as high as 15 feet. Often inspired by current events, André’s main preoccupation is with humanity - our origins and social interactions, but also our interconnections with animals.
