About the Item

A fine relief cast and mounted bronze portrait profile of a woman titled “Julia” by American artist George H. Borst (1889-1969). Borst was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he became known for his presidential portrait reliefs, including Woodrow Wilson, Calvin Coolidge, and Herbert Hoover. This relief bronze portrait profile has a partial exhibition label from the National Academy of Design, as well as a partial exhibition label from the Pennsylvania Academy Exhibition in 1929. Signed lower right and dated 1928, mounted on board with a velvet lining inside a simple wooden frame. Great overall patina, Some velvet wear and board separation visible. Dimensions: Bronze: 11.75 in H x 7.13 in W, actual; 21.25 in H x 14.5 in W, framed. Ref:8
