Giorgio Laveri (Savona Italy, March 3, 1954) is a painter, sculptor, screenwriter, director and actor and one of the most influential ceramists of the 21st century.
He has worked for more than 40 years in Abisola, a small town in Liguria known for its artistic ceramics. The film world is his inspiration; in addition to his career as a sculptor, he is a renowned film director. In 1996, in collaboration with the Department of Mental Health in Genoa, he sets up the project “The Magic Garden”(Il Giardino del Mago), through which he again produces a remarkable number of works, related to experimental film.
In the 1990s he returned to ceramics, where in his 3-dimensional works everyday objects - percolators, pens, lipsticks, bottle openers, whistles, padlocks, etc. - are rendered on an enlarged scale.
In 2025 he will exhibit for the first time in the Netherlands, first in a bookstore in Maastricht, and from April at Morren Galleries in Utrecht.
