ABOUT THE ARTIST
Illya Trofymchuk is a Ukrainian sculptor and founder of the art association "Tigois Project." He was born on February 28, 1987, in Arkalyk, Kazakhstan.
From a young age, Illya showed a keen interest in art, constantly seeking ways to express his unique creative energy. He created his first sculptures during his teenage years, experimenting with various materials and techniques. This early passion laid the foundation for his professional development, enabling him to produce deeply symbolic and expressive works.
Illya is actively involved in the development of Ukrainian art, with a particular focus on the social and cultural aspects of his creativity. His works explore themes of identity, memory, and history, often reflecting on the complex social challenges of the modern world. "For me, art is a tool for transforming reality and a way of unleashing creative energy. I'm fascinated by the process of selecting an image to capture in material and why this particular image stands out among hundreds or thousands of others. In sculpture, the evolution of thought cannot be realized as quickly as in painting, digital art, or performance. I materialize the image dictated by the material itself," Illya notes.
Through his work, Illya Trofymchuk aims not only to captivate the viewer aesthetically but also to evoke deep reflections and emotions, offering new perspectives on familiar subjects. He believes that art has the power to change the world by opening new horizons for thinking and perception.
He currently lives and works in Lviv, Ukraine.
