Ivan Zanoni
The march of the crabs, series of wrought-iron sculptures by Italian blacksmith

2011

About the Item

Ivan Zanoni's expert craftsmanship shows us this composition of 5 handmade and unique sculptures that provide the effect of watching crabs emerge from the sea. The measure written above is of the largest crab, the measures variate among cm 5 x 13 x 7 and cm 22,5 x 23 x 21. The artwork is thought to be an installation therefore the pieces cannot be sold separately. The sculptor is fresh from the success of a major exhibition that the MART, Museum of Modern Art in Rovereto (the most prominent in Italy), dedicated to him. Ivan Zanoni, born and raised in Caldes (Trento, Italy), is one of the most prominent contemporary artists mastering iron of our time. Ivan Zanoni has learned this rare activity from his father, Luciano, who, among other works, has sculpted a four meters olive tree for Melinda and Bill Gates' foundation in Seattle. Ivan's works are inspired by nature; his artistic research aims at representing not only animals' anatomy but also their soul. All of his artworks are unique proofs made of wrought iron.
