Thistle with insects forged in iron - Unique proof

2025

About the Item

Two side-by-side thistles house a gnat and an ant. All forged in iron, the matt black of the metal creates a unique piece made to be discovered and appreciated from all sides. Life emerges from this compact group, forged with care and meticulous work. Ivan Zanoni stands out as one of the best and most renowned sculptors able to work an ancient and historically relevant material like iron. From his hands comes a vegetable and animal universe animated by true sensitivity and poetry. Trained with his father Luciano Zanoni, an extraordinary blacksmith whose art has earned him important admirers all over the world (a four-metre olive tree is at the Melinda & Bill Foundation in Seattle), Ivan Zanoni's works are part of important private and public international collections. Together and individually, the Zanoni family has held numerous solo and institutional exhibitions in Italy, France and Greece, with strong interest from collectors especially in the USA, UK and Australia. Ivan Zanoni also accepts private and institutional commissions, as long as they are in line with his artistic language and themes rooted in the natural world.
