Lei Lei 雷磊

Lei Lei’s sculptures appeal the artist‘s strong personality. He creates a beauty of silence with a pure sculpture language. Buddha figures in caves inspired Lei Lei’s sculptures. Lei Lei creates figure sculptures with soft, quiet and calm expression on faces and sometimes show gentle gestures as well as Buddha figures in caves. However, Lei Lei develops more ideal, poetic and mysterious phenomena for his figure sculptures. They seem come from a utopia and they are in pursuit of peace and calm in the present moment. Lei Lei presents a dialogue between dynamic and static expression.
Lei Lei born in Chengdu, Sichuan. In 2012, he graduated from the master‘s Department of Sculpture, Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 2015, Lei Lei had a solo exhibition in JinCai Art Gallery, Hangzhou. Lei Lei had two solo exhibition in the year 2016. One in ZERO Art Centre and the other one in One of the Times· Time Life Museum, Xiamen city.
雷磊的作品具有清晰的个人⻛格，他以一种更加纯粹的雕塑语言来表达对精神与美的诉求。中国的洞窟佛像启发雷磊的创作，他所创作人物看起来柔美、安静、忧郁，偶尔透出的舒缓的美好，就如同洞窟佛像的面容一样。然而雷磊为雕塑打造一个理想、诗意、略带迷离的场域；人物看似来自一个乌托邦世界，追求此时此刻的宁静与祥和。有些人物伴随着岩石、浮云、翠竹、奇树等浑然天成的自然物质来和人这个主体产生联系，进而呈现动态与静态之间的对话。
雷磊出生于四川成都。 2012年毕业于中央美术学院雕塑系硕士。雷磊于2015年首发个人展于杭州金采美术馆。2016年的两场个人展分别举行于ZERO艺术中心以及厦门的Time Life博物馆。

Artist statement
“As a human being, there is always a moment or many moments for he or she to rethink past and self. During this process, people will turn over, rearrange or rebuild their thoughts. Therefore, a new hope and idea is created. Life cannot move backwards but forwards. In my artworks, many different elements are matched or competed to each other. Interaction between elements are not made purposely but happened naturally instead.
