Sculptor probably active in France in the late 19th century.
The sculpture depicts a particularly famous subject by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875), titled "Le Rieur napolitain," but bears the initials "A.C." on the back.
We believe, therefore, that this is an unidentified sculptor who made a marble version of Carpeaux's sculpture that was probably in high demand at the time.
We also have available to you in the catalog the sculpture depicting "Le Rieuse napolitain," also in marble, that is, the portrait of the Neapolitan girl and usually found in pairs.
The material is white statuary marble, there are small chipping visible in the photos.
