Jenny Pohlman and Sabrina Knowles
Sabrina Knowles and Jenny Pohlman began their collaboration in 1992. The artists use a variety of materials in their rich assemblages, including hot-sculpted glass, various metal works, found objects and beads, achieving a fine sense of formal balance.
For Knowles (b. 1955) and Pohlman (b. 1960), three notable research field trips had a profound impact on their personal and artistic development: In 1997 they visited Zimbabwe and Botswana; returning to Africa they visited Ghana in 2000; and in 2002 they traveled to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and East Africa. The pair gathered creative and emotional inspiration from these travels. These experiences are used to create sculptures that embody mythological stories in glass. Part of the narrative of the object is derived from the artists’ own travels and part by ancient cultures and magic of African life as witnessed by the two artists: “We have a point of origin and balance our elements within that framework.“
The work of Knowles and Pohlman is in the collections of the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Flint Art Institute, Henry Ford Museum; Lowe Museum of Art, Miami; Mobile Museum of Art; Museum of American Glass; Museum of Glass; National Liberty Museum; New Bedford Museum of Glass; Racine Art Museum; Tacoma Art Museum; and Imagine Museum among others.

$36,000 Sale Price20% Off - Don Quixote - Resin and Metal Blue Sculpture of HorsemanBy Angelo CanevariLocated in New York, NYAngelo Canevari’s Don Quixote is a 38 x 44 inch mix media sculpture. It is made of metal, resin, blue automotive paint, and cardboard. Angelo Canevari's work is often inspired by classical themes and myths. In this sculpture, he revisited with a modern interpretation the famous character of Don Quixote of La Mancha, in the Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Almost Baroque in it's curvilinear shape rendered by the interlacing blue lines, the horseman and the horse emanates a superb emotional tension that culminates in the horse's red eye and the horseman's red head. This sculpture is part of a very limited number of works that the artist created at the end of his life. It has been featured in a book written by renowned writer Andrea Camilleri. Angelo Canevari is an Italian sculptor who comes from a long lineage of artists active in Rome since the 17th century. He has been commissioned several works by the Vatican including the Bronze Doors of the Cathedral of Belluno and the Vatican Coins.Category
