Jeremy Guy
Solstice 6/50 - elegant, female, figurative, engineered granite sculpture

2020

About the Item

The graceful form of a female figure emerges from hand-chiselled black granite in this classically elegant sculpture by Jeremy Guy. The British artist’s contemporary work has long been influenced by the renowned modernist British sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. The velvety smooth finish of this piece reveals a black/brown patina with flecks of bronze on the edges. The word solstice comes from the Latin ‘sol’ (sun) and ‘sistere’ which means to stand still—a reference to the seasonal movement of the sun’s daily path. This is one of a series, engraved with the artist's signature, date, edition and foundry. The work is available by commission in an edition of 50. Please ask us about delivery time. “My work conveys a sense of balance and peace as I strive to seek a seemingly impossible equilibrium between the simple elegance and dynamic complexity of the world in which we live." Jeremy Guy Guy was born and raised in a small town in West Yorkshire, England. A fine art major, in 2001 he graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with an Honours BA in Product Design. His sculptures are collected across three continents in both public and private spaces.
