About the Item

With his sculptures, Jim Darbu invites you into a universe where bizarre stories unfold - a universe where colourful, strange creatures reign and shadows live their own lives. Inspired by fiction, pop culture, animation and cartoons, his figurative sculptures can be viewed as the recycled waste of the entertainment industry. They are playful and deceivingly simple, yet alluring. Like fables and folk tales, the sculptures have allegorical qualities, commenting and questioning our innermost thoughts and feelings. Jim Darbu has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in private galleries and art institutions throughout Norway since 2010. His works are held in the collections of Bergen Art Museum, Akershus County and Hå old vicarage, Norway.
