John Goodman
Bust / Head No. 1 2014

2014

About the Item

Contemporary bust from John Goodman, whose sculptures, drawings and paintings are a dichotomy of understated minimalism conveying a subtle, but evident smoldering energy. In 'Head No. 1 2014' the artist uses wax, terra-cotta, wire, and wood, to form a classic female head mounted to a found block of wood. The moody and provocative work pulls strongly toward abstraction. Clearly, Bay Area influences are present in the work of John Goodman, particularly that of Nathan Oliveira, who the artist was privileged to have had as his mentor. An elegant and sophisticated work of art. Goodman's work has been exhibited at International Art Fairs and is collected worldwide.
