His first one-man exhibition was in Thessaloniki (1974). Since then his work has been represented in numerous solo and group exhibitions all over the world and won several international awards. Recently, Georgiou's works were exhibited in a five museum tour in China. Georgiou's paintings and monumental sculptures can be found in public squares, sculpture gardens and numerous foundations & organizations throughout the world. He has had exhibitions at the Benakis Museum - Athens, State Museum of Modern Art - Thessaloniki, Bank of Piraeus, Ministry of Greek Tourism, Ministry of Greek Culture, Osaka Museum of Modern Art, Hyogo Perfectural Museum of Modern Art - Japan, National Bank of Greece, Eurobank, Greek Postbank, Absolute Americana Museum - Florida, Museo Civico-Italy, Red Cross-Cyprus, Suzhou - China, and in important private collections such as the Commanderie de Peyrassol, a sculpture garden in a 13th century vineyard in Provence, South of France. Kostis' narrative about Pegnion (Equus with Acrobats): Georgiou’s masterful expression of movement and connectivity is a frequent motif in his works, and TAURUS is no exception. And in this image, Georgiou's comprehension of the human form, elegant figures balanced atop a bull, are a commentary on the human being's propensity to overcome adversity and the delicate balance of life. Universally, the bull has many symbolic meanings. Images of bulls have been depicted since the evolution of humanity, and can be found in ancient art, literature, astronomy, and astrology. It can be deeply related to solar energies, determination, strength and virility. On another level, TAURUS is a representation of our relationship with finance. Drawing on the human reliance on money, human beings have taken the bull motif as an emblem of economic growth and prosperity. The term “bull market” refers to the condition of a market that is expected to rise in price and can be connected to anything that is traded such as real estate, commodities, or currencies. In Chinese culture, the Bull is related to strength, success and wealth, perseverance and determination. According to Feng Shui, the bull is considered to bring good luck for the year ahead and fortune in any financial situation. The precise positions of the figures atop the bull elicits a feeling of poise and balance, as if their movements are a language unto themselves. Our bodies as human beings each have their own story to tell, and one prominent way to convey meaning is through our interconnection with sentient beings and symbols we wish to identify with.
