The first works we encountered by artist Loek Bos were his sculptures of cyclists—captured individually, in pairs, and as entire pelotons.
We were immediately captivated and showcased his cycling sculptures during the exhibition “The Bicycle, the Bicycle, and Nothing Else” in early 2023. Our enthusiasm was shared by the large audience who visited the exhibition, giving us every reason to establish a long-term collaboration.
Loek Bos’s passion for sculpting cyclists is simple: he and his wife are avid cyclists themselves. Through cycling, they have explored countless parts of the world. At the same time, cycling is an everyday activity, and it is precisely this ordinariness that the Hague-based artist captures in his work. Everyday scenes are transformed into bronze sculptures that reveal a quiet, remarkable stillness.
By pausing to reflect on the ordinary, Loek Bos’s sculptures reveal a unique beauty, inviting viewers to appreciate the poetic moments hidden within daily life.
