About the Item

Wisent (Żubr) XL model Lines WB, 2022, glazed ceramics painted over glaze, 22 x 14 x 30 cm, on the bottom the author's logo and numerical description: 148/2016. Mariusz Dydo was born in 1979. After graduating from the "Artistic Furniture" specialization at the State Secondary School of Fine Arts in Tarnów, he enrolled at the Faculty of Sculpture of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, from which he graduated in 2004. During his studies, he participated in many group exhibitions and twice, at the invitation of the Commune de Lorentzweiller (Luxembourg), in the painting projects "Residents of Lorentzweiller" and "Landscapes of Lorentzweiller". After graduation, he was a laureate of the Artistic Award of the City of Krakow. In 2007, he opened his first sculpture and painting studio, where he made many contract commissions for private individuals, film, advertising, the Museum of the Tourist Route of the Salt Mine in Wieliczka, the Museum of the City of Krakow, the Basilica of St. Cross in Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw. He is the author of the sculptural decor, the design and the contractor of the altar furniture for the Chapel of St. Cross in the rosary road complex in Hlinik nad Hronom, Slovakia (2011-2013). Since 2008, he has been creating small sculptural series in cast ceramics, which make up the Mariusz Dydo brand. In his work, he is inspired by the intersection lines of mythology about art, the tradition of masters and a visit to a hypermarket. Sometimes he uses titles taken from the Judeo-Christian, Greek, Latin traditions and Newspeak terminology, which is a key to reflecting on the other side of a given work. Even when it is an emanation of hypermarket happiness, a cheerful child of post-pop art, the titles of the cycles always contain a deeper reflection on childhood memory, innocence, the myth of the artist, industry and creation.
