About the Item
Bald head sculpture in vibrant red cloak blends glossy low-fire glaze and oil-painted detail to evoke emotional introspection. Bald Man in Red Cloak (48 × 42 × 22 cm) by Aldonza presents a hyperrealistic male visage—shaved scalp, closed eyes, and softly parted lips—emerging from voluptuous scarlet drapery. The low-temperature ceramic body is layered with translucent red glaze that pools and crackles organically, while oil-paint accents on the face bring warmth and lifelike nuance to the pale skin tones.
The exposed, smooth scalp underscores themes of vulnerability and identity, contrasting with the richly textured cloak that conceals the body. Each fold of the garment bears unique speckles and drips of black and ruby hues, reinforcing the one-of-a-kind nature of Aldonza’s experimental process. The glossy finish highlights every contour, capturing light to reveal subtle shifts in color and depth—echoes of weathered stone and flowing fabric.
Ideal for contemporary interiors, gallery installations, or curated collections focused on organic materials and expressive form, Bald Man in Red Cloak rests directly on a secure tabletop or low pedestal. Its commanding presence, emotive expression, and vibrant color palette make it a compelling focal point in any space.

Óscar Aldonza Torres (b. 1976, Santiago de Compostela) is a sculptor and Sculpture Professor at EASD Mestre Mateo. He holds a Diploma in Volume Techniques from EASD Mestre Mateo, a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Seville, and an MA in Art Heritage Management from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Winner of the 1st Prize at the XIV Open-Air Sculpture Symposium in O Grove and 1st Accésit of the Francisco Asorey International Sculpture Prize (Cambados), his work has been presented in venues such as the Salon d’Automne in Paris, O Rectángulo de Ouro in Portugal, “Respostas sen preguntas” at Galería Sabor a Menta (Santiago de Compostela), and “Animalium” at the MIHL Museum (Lugo), among others. In his sculptural practice, Óscar Aldonza Torres positions the human figure as an intimate mirror, reflecting universal fears and inner doubts. His creative process—both impulsive and experimental—is underpinned by rigorous material research, allowing forms to emerge organically as each work evolves. Predominantly working in series, Aldonza Torres embraces ambivalence and conceptual openness, crafting open-ended narratives that invite viewers to engage emotionally—ranging from identification to repulsion and intrigue—and to complete the dialogue with their own perceptions.

Dean Kugler is a seasoned interdisciplinary artist, painter, and figurative sculptor. His 3D work is featured primarily at Gallery Victor Armendariz in Chicago. In the last three years, Dean has also been featured at Abend Gallery in Denver, The Figge Art Museum, and Bereskin Gallery in Iowa. He has shown at SOFA Chicago in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and participated in ArtPrize in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
He sees himself primarily as a sculptor due to the challenges he finds and thrives on within the process. In all its beauty, crudeness, and subtleties, the figure offers infinite opportunities to express feelings and emotions. There is also a physicality to sculpture that requires the work to be experienced through movement in order to reveal more about the piece.
Dean has always been drawn to the interactive nature of large-scale sculpture that is available to the public - he loves the idea that his work entices the observer to go beyond what they can see and add tactility to the experience. By using both realism and abstraction, he creates a visual that challenges the viewer to resolve what they are seeing. Therefore, providing a greater connection between the artist and the viewer.
