hand and is unique, referring to the singular nature of
living things.
By equating machines to animals, Piccinini points out
the plausibility of technology that will be selfperpetuating
and self-directing. Artificial intelligence
is something that frightens many people. Because this
piece is “cute,” does it make the idea of A.I. more
palatable?
