Perran started a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the College of Fine Arts (COFA) Sydney in 2006 and held his first exhibition in the same year. Perran has never limited himself to a single medium. Instead he chooses to use sculpture, photography, video, light, audio and installation to create artworks which deal with the broad and elusive themes of mortality, beauty, the self and the natural and built environment.
