Pierre Jules Mene (French 1810-1879) "Chasse Au Lapin" (The Rabbit Hunt) 1880 Cast Bronze 8.5" x 14.5" x 6.5" inches This is a beautiful period example of P.J. Mene's work as the foremost animalier in bronze, circa 1880 and signed P.J. Mene. This is no. 24 in his catalog and cast by Barbédienne. This is a beautifully detailed casting with rich medium brown patina. The title of the piece is "Chasse au Lapin." The subject is three dogs, one Griffon and two hounds, who have chased a rabbit into a hole. It's a rare original model. The piece measures 14.5 long x 6.5 inches deep and 8.5 inches high and is in excellent condition.
