This free standing glazed porcelain sculpture features multi-level coves in which various scenes are depicted. The bottom level of the 'mountain form' holds a dreamer figure with a hanging chrysallis above. The second, middle section holds a snake in a nest like form. The top level holds a resting deer. The overall mountain form is transfigured into the embodiment of a male figure, with a long cloak draped along the back. My mountain sculptures are formed out of broken pieces of glass and ceramics. This work started when I broke one of my favorite cups. The mountain represents the idea that when we face difficulties and challenges in life there are two possibilities: either we accept it and learn something, get stronger, and grow, or part of ourselves breaks and we carry the weight of the loss with us.
