About the Item
This impressionist sculpture of a woman walking was done by New Hampshire artist Robert Hughes (1915-2004). Hughes was born in Providence, Rhode Island and later moved to Berlin, New Hampshire, where he became well known as teacher for 43 years in the Berlin school system, as well as a graphic designer and artist. Hughes’ work has been compared to the work of Henry Moore and William Zorach. The sculpture is made of composition stone with a green mottled patina and measures approximately 31 in H h x 8 in W x 9 in D, mounted on a 3.75 in H x 10 in W x 8.5 in D wooden plinth and is in very good condition, with minimal imperfections and minor foot loss. Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist's family. Ref: 10789
