About the Item

Rudolf KAESBACH (1873-1955), "Snake Charmer" Inscribed 'R. Kaesbach' on the plinth and with the foundry mark, height with base: approx. 30.2 cm Founding mark RM Rosenthal & Maeder produced decorative bronze and ivory figurines in the Art Deco style in the mid-1920s. The company was located at Dresdner Straße 88/89 and had a showroom at Ritterstraße 59. The sculpture "Snake Charmer" is an example of Kaesbach's thematic interests and artistic style. It typically depicts a female figure, often nude or semi-nude, handling a snake. 1873 Mönchengladbach – 1955 Berlin Rudolf Kaesbach is a German sculptor from the turn of the 20th century. He studied at the academies in Hanau, Paris, and Brussels. He ran his own workshop in Düsseldorf until moving to Berlin in 1904. Between 1939 and 1943, his works were included in the Great German Art Exhibition in Munich. A German sculptor, he studied at the academies in Hanau, Paris, and Brussels. In 1903, he moved into his own studio in Grunewald, Berlin. From 1911, he participated in the Great Berlin Art Exhibition, and from 1939 to 1943, he participated in the Great German Art Exhibition in Munich. He primarily created nude figures, dancers, and animals, large marble figures and tombstones, but also small bronzes of ancient nudes.
