About the Item
Elegant 19th Century French Clock with gilt turquoise porcelain figures of a young man and woman with a caged bird. The porcelain figurine is in good condition with all fingers intact. The porcelain is numbered on the underside but does not appear to be signed, it is in the Sevres style. Great attention to detail was executed in the flowers that adorn the clock. The clock appears to run well, the front and back glass doors have kept the mechanism relatively clean. The one area of damage observed is a chip to the porcelain dial where the key is inserted, this is a typical area of damage for antique porcelain dial clocks. The mechanism is stamped 'GV' which would attribute it to the workshop of G. Vicarino, a clock maker based in Paris. The piece is overall lovely and makes an elegant statement.
