About the Item

White Carrara marble sculpture depicting the Medici Venus, Florentine workshop, second half of the 19th century. The Venus de' Medici is an original Greek Hellenistic marble statue preserved in the Tribuna of the Uffizi Gallery. The work depicts Venus bathing in the demure position. Regarded as one of the purest and most elevated embodiments of woman ever conceived, the statue enchanted Emperor Napoleon, who decided to move it to Paris; only in the Restoration era was the statue returned to Florence. Its fame remained unchanged, making it one of the most emblematic sculptures in art history. Ours comes from one of the many Florentine sculpture workshops that loved to reproduce it for their Italian and foreign clients in the 19th century. Finely crafted, it is in excellent condition. Intact and free of resin reconstructions, just visible a few spots of old grout above the knees and above the elbows. Measurements H cm 62 L max cm 23 D max cm 15 D base cm 15
