An elegant high-relief depicting a young naked woman kneeling, her chest leaning forward in a contemplative and melancholic posture. Her slender body stands out against a smooth background, accentuating the purity of the lines and the softness of the modeling. At her side, a slender greyhound leans toward her, resting its paw and muzzle on her shoulder with an almost human tenderness. Between the female figure and the animal, a stylized plant motif enriches the composition and adds a decorative touch.
The work illustrates the sensitivity of William Laparra, winner of the Prix de Rome in 1899, known for the accuracy of his drawing and the harmony of his compositions.
