b. Melbourne, Australia Louise Blyton is a reductive artist exploring the romance of raw linen and dry pigment. The artist’s geometrically shaped canvases explore color, light, and form through the visual language of Reductivism, an aesthetic style characterized by streamlined compositions, restricted color, and a reduction of form and means. Identifying with Reductivism’s simplicity, Blyton’s shaped canvases and three-dimensional wall sculptures elevate craftsmanship and process, achieving a compositional clarity that unifies color and form. To construct her works, Blyton covers custom built balsa wood stretchers with raw linen, adorning them with layers of pure pigment or acrylic paint. Each pigment reacts differently to raw linen and requires a specific number of coats to reach the artist’s desired level of saturation. As the artist explains, “I’m always looking for a kind of quietness and harmony when making my works even if the color being used is loud.” The artist creates her own spatial dimension by manipulating the shape of the canvas, which escapes from the flat surface of the wall, confusing its role as a painting. “Rather than responding to the architecture they ask particular attributes of the building to act as support,” as some works appear to climb the surface of the walls, while others straddle columns and corners. Louise Blyton lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia in 1988. Her works are held in significant corporate and private collections in Australia, China, France, United Kingdom, Portugal, and the United States. Since 2000, Blyton has run an artist supply store called, St. Luke Artist Colourman, which specializes in professional paint and raw materials, with her husband David Coles.

Abstract Head Sculpture: 'Untitled'
Located in New York, NY
The artistic collaboration of Kelly Bugden + Van Wifvat has produced a thought-provoking body of sculptures, paintings, and constructions. Nature, childhood memories, and everyday archetypes take shape in unexpected combinations of materials. The works emerged as the tactile and visual senses channeled the ritualistic power and materiality of selected artifacts. The resulting objects exist in a space between what they were originally and what they could become. A wheel, for example, is distorted as if seen through a prism. Their collaboration grew out of years of shaping materials into one-of-a-kind objects. Intuitively, the process of creating with their hands took an inward turn. Prism is a travelogue through memories and dreams, yielding abstract forms that capture moments of transformation. Van Wifvat grew up with eight siblings and studied sculpture and environmental design in Minneapolis at MCAD. In 1979, he opened a storefront art gallery to promote the work of local artists. The space featured printed materials—art books, periodicals, fanzines, and postcard’s. Wifvat moved to New York in 1983 to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons. In 1987, he co-founded Van Gregory & Norton design studio, specializing in convex mirrors and curtain hardware...

charcoal on paper mounted to silk foam core and wood Mark Pomilio’s work focuses on the research of fractals, cloning, and single cell manipulation. His mathematics-based drawings serve as a metaphor for naturally occurring systems of reproduction and growth. When Pomilio begins a piece, he doesn’t know where it will lead; although his tools and marks are precise, the layering, repetition, rotation, and distribution of basic shapes are improvised to emulate a single cell dividing and compounding into a complex form. The process of cell growth influences Pomilio’s practice and is emphasized through his own process, the use of erasure, faint outlines, opacity and translucency, and deliberate marks. The resulting compositions are balanced, unified, and harmonious. His work is included in the collections of the University of Arizona Museum of Art, Baylor University Martin Museum of Art, Dupont Corporation, University of Michigan...

"These inflated objects are grown more than fabricated. Through the process of inflation, the application of the air to the geometric construction defines form at the moment of inflation." It is the pragmatic that draws Thomas. Asked about his influences he asserts that his primary influences do not come from the realm of art but rather from everyday living. “I don’t eat, sleep, and breathe art,” he comments. His discovery of metal-working arose in a similar, practical way. Thomas had been sculpting with stone and asked someone to show him how to forge his own chisel. This was the start of his exploration of forging techniques and after a time he gave up working with stone to work with metal. One of the key aspects of blacksmithing that intrigued Thomas was fact that it isn’t instantly gratifying, and it poses questions that aren’t easily solved. He interned with Tom Joyce...

Ragisména series. Set of 2 wall Sculpture White M5, Abstract
Located in Miami Beach, FL
Ragisména Series The Ragisména series, which in Greek means cracked, has its materiality manifested through the desire to recreate and make feelings, memories, and mythology tangible in the physical world. The works have their core connected to Dehlos, a ruined island bathed by the Aegean Sea, created by Poseidon, so that Leto could have his children Apollo and Artemis in a protected land. Known for being a sacred place, Dehlos was the most important Panhellenic sanctuary almost 3 thousand years ago. In an equation between mythology and abstraction, volumes, cracks, lights, and shadows come together in matter. The Ragisména work in aluminum is the result of an artistic and artisanal process that dates back to antiquity, when people used fire to shape metal. Casting consists of heating the metal until it becomes liquid and then pouring it into a mold of the work. After cooling, the mold is removed and the piece is polished. In this way, the foundry immortalizes in matter the work conceived by the artist, giving life to his vision and expression. Born in Rio de Janeiro and raised in São Paulo, Rodrigo Zampol has always been attracted to the arts. An architect by training, and with a strong presence in the world of visual arts, he plays with different types of materials and textures, seeking visual results that are almost always unexpected. Zampol uses different materials in his work, such as metal, paper, leather, plaster, and different types of pigments. His works reflect his personal experience, his worldview, and his research on human history, from ancient civilizations to the present day. From Ragisména Series Set of 2 wall Sculpture White...
