About the Item

Azimuth Bronze Sculpture Classical Contemporary Mythology The sculptures of Margot Homan (1956, Oss, the Netherlands) show a perfect command of the old craft of modelling and sculpting, with which she continually develops an age old tradition. In her artistic education at the Tilburg Art Academy, the possibility to study and create figurative work lacked, so Homan felt obliged to study the anatomy of the human body all by herself. Homan looks for the inner balance in humans, which she literally translates in her sculptures. The connection to sculptures from antiquity is strong, but also bears apparent differences. An important feature of antique sculptures is their ultimate calm, while Homan’s sculptures are captured in movement, balanced, dancing or floating. The focus is on energy and willpower. The aim of the artist is to communicate from the heart, to provide rest, comfort and beauty to the viewer.

Hospitality - Bronze Sculpture by Orfeo Tamburi - Late 1900
By Orfeo Tamburi
Located in Roma, IT
Hospitality - Sculpture is a fine sculpture realized by the Italian artist Orfeo Tamburi (Jesi, 1910- Paris, 1994) during the 20th century. Edition of 99 exemplars. Bonded bronze sculpture with a golden patina. Mounted on a Guatemala green marble base. Guatemala green marble, as its name suggests, is a marble coming from India, also known ad India Green; it is characterized by an intense green color with white veins with an irregular and uneven shape. Dimensions: cm 10 x 10 x 2 (base); cm 29 (height of sculpture). Excellent conditions. This artwork - born on a project realized by the artist in the 1930's and manufactured posthumous - represents a sensual nude woman who symbolizes the hospitality. Delightful creation by the great Italian painter Orfeo Tamburi. He firstly embraced the principles of the Roman School, from which he matured an evocative language with warm chromatic intonations that found favorite themes in portraits and urban views. After a trip to Paris where he discovered the painting of Cèzanne, the artist began a long friendship with Giuseppe Ungaretti, the director Marcello Pagliaro and Curzio Malaparte...

Spirit of Gravity - emotive, nude, female, figurative, bronze statuette
By Richard Tosczak
Located in Bloomfield, ON
In this thoughtful sculpture by Canadian artist Richard Tosczak, the gestures of a female figure, head bent, arms wrapped, are captured in bronze. Known for his beautiful figurative work, this piece retains the artist’s signature highly textured appearance and green-black patina. Tosczak’s pieces are first conceived on paper in quick pen and ink drawings. The spontaneity of this approach is evident in the almost abstract appearance of the sculpture. This piece is number three in an edition of eight. “The ineffable, vital qualities of the human spirit (is what I’m trying to communicate.)” - Richard Tosczak Born in Belgium, Richard Tosczak studied philosophy and sculpture at the University of Alberta. At that time, Tosczak began working in steel and was influenced by a number of his professors who appreciated the work of a British abstract sculptor, Sir Anthony Caro considered one of the greatest sculptors of his generation. Further studies were pursued in France with another internationally acclaimed classic sculptor, Martine Vaugel...
