Steven CiezkiLand, Air, and Water
This set of three objects is by Steven Ciezki. "Land, Air, and Water" was featured in Exhibit A's 2016 Black and White Biennial. This work represents an interesting leap for Steven Ciezki; he has incorporated drawings on the surface. (In one section the glass is left transparent.) He is quick to explain that he was a kid who loved to draw and his subject matter was often elaborate machinery. Currently he is known for creating tower forms in blown glass. It occurred to him that by reorienting mechanical imagery from horizontal to vertical it relates to the work he does in glass. He says "Quickly, I turned to car transmission cutouts, jet engine cutaways, and finally torpedo cutouts: Land (center), Air (right), and Water (left)..." Steven Ciezki was born in Calumet City, Illinois and is currently living and working in Phoenix, AZ. He earned his BFA from Illinois State University. In recent years his work has shown at SOFA Chicago. as well as various venues around the country. He was a 2014 Artist-in-Residence at the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning NY. The tallest form is 30.5 inches high by 6 inches diameter. The second tallest form is 24 inches high by 4.25 inches diameter. The shortest is 20 inches tall by 4.5 inches diameter.
