Parallel Worlds - Glowing Green City / Urban Scene in Sculptural Glass: Triptych
Located in London, GB
Sympathetically capturing the essence of the urban landscape in his work, Jeff says - ‘I studied HND Art & Design at the Glasgow College of Building & Printing before working as a set artist for “the Complex” theatre, Los Angeles. I then went on to study BSc “Special Effects” at Southbank University, London, which led to employment in the Art/Special Effects departments on major movie productions including the Oscar-winning “Last Samurai” and Steven Spielbergs’ Oscar-nominated “Munich”. After several years working as a fine artist in the industry, I realised a lifelong ambition, setting up my own glass studio to research and work with the diverse materials and challenging techniques involved in the creation of multi-layered glass sculpture.’

"Golden Nautilus" An Elegant and Intricate Gold Nautilus Shell Glass Sculpture
Located in Morgan Hill, CA
Created by San Jose based glass artist, Treg Silkwood, the "Golden Nautilus" is an intricate sculpture of a seashell created entirely out of glass. Using layers of ochre (Gold) and white pigment, Treg masterfully captures the intricate shell details typically found on a nautilus'. This breathtaking piece measures 13"h x 11"w x 5"d and comes with a custom metal stand affixed with a rubber coating to ensure stability of the sculpture.
About the Artist:
Treg Silkwood is a glass artist whose career spans over three decades. He is recognized as a premier California Marine Artist and one of the foremost artists working in glass. Taking inspiration from walks along the California coast, Treg’s artwork explores his fascination with the many species of shells and natural objects he’s collected from his excursions. In response to these elegant forms, Treg creates blown glass sculptures that not only enrich his appreciation for the intricate complexities of the natural world but also form a personal connection to a place which he calls home.
Treg has a BFA in glass from Alfred University and studied abroad at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague, where he learned Czech mold-making and coldworking techniques. Post graduation, Treg worked as a glass blower recreating Early American Glassware at Greenfield Village, within The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. He was an artist-in-residence at The Corning Museum of Glass in New York and part of the original crew that created The Corning Musuem of Glass Roadshow. In 2002, Treg and his wife Candace, established Silkwood Glass, a custom glass company specializing in marine life sculpture...

After Alhambra', large, lilac, turquoise and royal blue , 2021, Amy Hughes
By Amy Hughes
Located in London, GB
AMY HUGHES
After Alhambra', large, lilac, turquoise and royal blue , 2021
Coil and slab built vase; grogged stoneware body with high fired porcelain and coloured decorating slips, transparent glaze interior detail.
53 x 40 cm
20 3/4 x 15 3/4 in.
(AH013)
Amy Hughes has a fascination with vases, largely fuelled by the 18th century, resulting in collections which aim to bridge the gap between the past and the present, finding a new home in contemporary culture for such objects creating a ‘modern decadence’, whilst paying homage to and referencing the originals. Learning from the past; skills used and traditions taught, is fundamental to her as a practitioner.
Her practice is both fuelled by and symbolic of the highly prestigious Porcelain wares produced at the Royal Sèvres Factory in the late 17th and 18th centuries. Hughes’ works reference and pay homage to the originals, but are created with a freer approach, giving them a new lease of life.
After Alhambra pieces take inspiration from the large lustre vases produced during the Nasrid Dynasty (the last Muslim Dynasty in the Iberian peninsula, ruling Granada) in the 14th and 15th centuries which became romantically known as 'Alhambra Vases...
