Title: "Insiders Series (Disengaged #2.): A Tactile Journey Through Form and Narrative" "(Disengaged #2.)" from the "Insiders Series" emerges as a singular masterpiece—a one-of-a-kind sculpture meticulously crafted from hand-carved limestone and an assortment of metals thoughtfully chosen for their color and malleability. This work, like its counterparts in the series, transcends the boundaries of visual exploration, inviting the beholder to engage in a tactile experience that unravels a narrative both familiar and enigmatic. The sculpture beckons exploration not just with the eyes, but with the hands—a deliberate choice that transforms the artwork into an interactive encounter. As hands traverse the surface of the stone, a world unfolds, both impenetrable and inviting, offering a tactile journey that complements and completes the visual narrative. Each touch becomes a discovery of the familiar and the unknown, an invitation to unravel the layers of meaning embedded in the carved form. The core of this freestanding sculpture is hand-carved Indiana limestone, a process that begins with pneumatic tools to rough out the shape. Subsequently, a meticulous progression involving rasps, files, and hand sanding with multiple grits of sandpaper refines the form to its final state. The result is a surface that embodies both the raw energy of creation and the subtle nuances of human touch. The narrative, however, doesn't conclude with the stone. Intricate wire work, carefully bent and brazed or soldered, adds another layer to the story. These metal elements, selected for their distinctive colors and malleability, interlace with the carved limestone, creating a harmonious fusion of materials and meaning. The wire work, friction-fitted and secured with adhesive, becomes the finishing touch—a testament to the artist's meticulous craftsmanship.
