Virginia Mahoney’s “Ambiguous Clarification” is a 13.5 x 18 x 6 inch ceramic and metal wall sculpture in various shades of teal, brown, black, and silver. A cutout figure in silver and black painted metal with brown wash interacts with ceramic shards and wire forms on a painted ceramic background. An additional teal shard with dashes of red and black seems to float off of the bottom, surrounded by wavy wire forms. The piece hangs easily by the wire loop attached to the back, where the artist’s signature is located. This lively, dynamic work compliments your decor with its distinctive, original approach to materials, texture, and color.
Virginia Mahoney is a mixed-media sculptor in the Boston area, whose work reveals a fascination with words, ambiguity, and diverse methods of making.
