About the Item

This splendid male cheetah uses its exceptional eyesight to scan the savannah. Always alert and on the lookout for either prey or enemy. Being life-size, it will create an exceptional décor statement piece and is bound to become the focal point in any interior surroundings. We offer a wide range of silver-plated sculptures, which have been carefully designed and created for the discerning buyer. We cast this silver-plated bronze cheetah using the "lost wax" technique, which is the preferred method, as it brings out every little detail of the original sculpture. Our silver-plated bronze sculptures have added features that put them above others, such as treating them with a nano-technology protective coating, that protects and enhances the silver shine, premium quality black paints used for the spots, felt pads under the feet to prevent scratching surfaces, etc. We take great care in making sure our sculptures are of the finest quality, to ensure many years of enjoyment ! This cheetah sculpture is crated, and safely delivered by courier.

Loet Vanderveen large seated cheetah bronze sculpture
By Loet Vanderveen
Located in Walnut Creek, CA
Large limited edition (44/500) Seated Cheetah bronze sculpture by Loet Vanderveen. Dimensions are 19 1/2" tall by 21 1/2" wide and 9 1/2" deep. Weighs in at a hefty 44.4 lbs. Nice green/blue patina. Nice vintage condition with only minor signs of wear. Born in Rotterdam, Holland Loet Vanderveen's childhood home was close to the zoo. It was during this period in life that he developed his love for animals. At night he would listen to the sound of the animals in the zoo, and fantasize about African safaris... fantasies which were eventually realized. During the WWII bombardment of Rotterdam the animals were destroyed as well as his home. These events led Vanderveen to a new phase in his life. He escaped occupied Holland for England, and was decorated for valor by Queen Wilhelmia. He served in the R.A.F. during the war. After WWII, Vanderveen lived in Zurich, London and New York working as a fashion designer. Creatively unsatisfied with his profession he began private ceramic studies with the head of the Far Eastern department of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (Fong Chao). He mastered Chinese...
