"Fishermen Houses" Landscape Horizontal Oil Painting by Edgar Kiechle 1911-1946
Located in Pasadena, CA
This oil painting made in 1958 expresses perfectly the 1950s period, very minimalist with a vigorous and colorful layering of paint.
Edgar O. Kiechle was born in 1911. He was a movie illustrator and a painter.
Edgar studied landscape painting with Jean Mannheim, and architecture, and became an excellent watercolorist. After studying at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, he interned with leading architects and designers in the area. He worked at most major studios but his career as an illustrator saw him primarily at the Universal Studio Art department.
In 1933, Edgar joined Lwerks as a background artist and worked on many films produced by Animated Picture Corporation through 1935.
In the summer of 1941, Ed Kiechle joined the Universal Studio Art Department as an illustrator for motion pictures. His career as an illustrator saw him primarily at Universal.
He also produced hundreds of oil paintings. His first public showing was in an exhibition of motion picture artists in 1945, His work came to the attention of the motion picture colony and many purchases were made by such notables of his day as Ida Lupino, Hedy Lamar...

Now available for purchase, this is one of fifteen 40"x30" cross-hatch, charcoal drawings
on Strathmore paper, created in 1980-1981. The drawings are a dense
constellation of cross-hatch lines that undulate in light and dark, creating a
deep three dimensional quality, as if the forms are detached or floating on the
paper. Minimalist in style, these black and white drawings are powerful,
compelling images.
Very Good Condition - Minor wear consistent with age and history. Corners have wear.

Korean Abstract Minimalist Oil Painting LA Woman Artist MInimalism Jae Hahn
By Jae Hahn
Located in Surfside, FL
Textured oil on canvas
Hand signed verso
20 x 16 inches
Jae Hahn is a Korean-born artist living in Los Angeles. Known for abstraction and minimalism. She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree majoring in painting at UCLA in 1977. She spent her first 20 formative years in Korea, and the following 30 years in Los Angeles. Hahn’s search to find her own identity and cultural heritage resulted in studying Oriental philosophy, but more specifically, Taoism and Zen Buddhism.
She later focused on figure painting, consolidating what she learned from all schools of masters. The first was about structure from cubism. Next were the dynamic color studies of Henri Matisse, and third, the freedom of spontaneous gestural strokes found in Abstract Expressionism.
During the late 1990’s, Hahn experienced her own Renaissance. Her paintings took on a new life, with more activity and interlocking positive and negative space, and varying textures (“folding”) and irregular shapes. This resulted in the Unfoldings series, which encompasses Hahn’s artistic attributes of color and form, surface layered depth of field, sculpture, geometry and structure.
Jae's paintings are painted in varied tones of a single colour, and usually appear in the form of diptych, triptych or polyptych. The contents are patterns formed by lines such as a triangle, a diagonal, a cross or simply a horizontal line. Simplicity is indeed a quality that the artist intends to convey through her art. Following in the tradition of Donald Judd, John McCracken, Agnes Martin, Dan Flavin and Robert Morris, Her work tends towards a luminous minimalist style. She has showed at Kelley Roy gallery alongside John Henry, Dolly Moreno and Sebastian Spreng. She has also shown at Seth Jason Beitler Gallery in Miami.

Ellsworth Kelly at Gemini/Joan Collins Visits Gemini! (Hand signed by BOTH)
Located in New York, NY
Ellsworth Kelly at Gemini/Joan Collins Visits Gemini! (Hand signed by Ellsworth Kelly and Joan Collins), 1985
Printed paper collage on card (Hand signed by the artist and his subject)
Unique work
Hand-signed by artist, signed inscribed and dated 'JOAN COLLINS VISITS GEMINI! EK 85.59'; signed and inscribed by Joan Collins 'Love Joan Collins' (on the reverse)
Framed with wood frame and UV filtering acrylic glazing, with a die-cut acrylic window in the back revealing the artist and his subject's signatures
Gemini Gel is the famous printer and publisher that produced works by some of the most important artists of the 20th century, including Ellsworth Kelly; Joan Collins is the legendary actress who became an international superstar from her role in the soap opera Dynasty -- which happened to be produced by Kelly's collector, Douglas S. Cramer, who owned this work.
Hand signed inscribed and dated 'JOAN COLLINS VISITS GEMINI! EK 85.59'; signed and inscribed by Joan Collins 'Love Joan Collins' (on the reverse)
Acquired from the collection of Douglas S. Cramer, the renowned Hollywood producer who acquired it directly from Ellsworth Kelly; Joan Collins signed the work for Ellsworth Kelly.
From May 6–June 25, 2022, the Matthew Marks gallery put on an exhibition of
Kelly’s postcards which were also the subject of a 2021 exhibition at the Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs.
Perhaps more than any other work by the artist, Kelly’s postcards illustrate his use of found compositions — from nature, architecture, art history, and popular media — to create his singular, abstract forms. Kelly’s appetite for visual inspiration is manifested in these modest works. “What I’ve tried to capture is the reality of flux,” he stated, “to keep art an open, incomplete situation, to get at the rapture of seeing.”
