Among the many large public art commissions, Houck has completed for interior and exterior sites in Boston and nationwide in mosaic and mural format are permanent installations for The Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Children's Hospitals in Boston and Waltham, The Frieda Garcia Park, Fort Point Channel, The Cambridge Senior Center and 4 libraries in Broward County, Florida. Houck got her MFA in painting from Tufts University, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 1989 her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, in 1975.
