Our Best of Basel 2014
The world’s foremost contemporary and modern art fair, Art Basel, returns to its Swiss home this week, drawing top collectors and curators from across the globe. Some 300 galleries will be represented, but that's just the beginning: An ever-expanding circle of satellite fairs has sprung up in recent years, including Design Miami/Basel, which, true to its name, focuses on furniture and objects, as well as Volta and Scope, which specialize in new and emerging art.
In anticipation, our editors have selected some of the most coveted collectibles from 1stdibs galleries participating in these prestigious fairs. The pieces below include a neon sculpture by Tracey Emin, a pendant lamp by Alvar Aalto and a diamond-dusted silkscreen print by Damien Hirst.
